The World Around Me:
Experiences are such a unique word because it comes with any type of meaning. The experience of me typing this same section for a second time because I accidentally deleted my first WordPress page. Now at the time, I thought that the world was going to end, but now setting up my whole website for a second time, I am a lot more comfortable using WordPress, and honestly, I think the second website is already better than my first one, But let’s dive down into how I got to where I am today. The important stuff
After High School, I didn’t have much direction in my life. I never thought I would ever graduate college, especially from a four-year university like Rutgers. So how did I end up here? Once I graduated High School, I found myself at my town’s local fire department, mostly because my uncle is a paid firefighter in Edison. I instantly saw a connection with all the volunteers that were at our station. So I ended up joining, and I will say it has made me the man I am today. I started by going to Middlesex Fire Academy, where I did over eight months of training to become a volunteer fight fighter officially. During this time, I learned lessons that I would have never known in a typical college setting. I learned how to be a part of a dynamic team on a mission not to save yourself in a dangerous situation but to think about saving others who haven’t had the same training as you. I learned to respect the old-timers; even though they may move slower, their brains were much smarter than mine. Being able to appreciate someone to the fullest and be a family is what the fire department was about. Every Christmas, the volunteer squad would fix our Santa sled and drive around Edison, giving candies to little kids running out to see Santa and taking pictures with him. The experience I had at the fire department will stay with me forever, but sadly I injured my knees and had to decide to push through the pain or find a more suitable career path for me in the future.
After 2018 is when my life changed. After my knee injuries, I had a tough decision to make if I pushed my knees to the limit for the rest of my life or made a change. When I was injured, I had plenty of downtime on my hands, so I built a whole desktop computer from scratch to game on. After building mine and then building my friends, I realized why not go to school for technology, especially the IT field, when I genuinely love to do it. I transferred one of my associate degrees from Middlesex to Rutgers University. I started in the Information Technology, and Informatics major and a Digital Communication minor and haven’t looked back yet. I learned how the advancement of technology is changing the world around us in multiple different ways. The class Retrieving & Evaluating Electronic Information taught me how to find scholarly and non-scholarly information through online databases. Web Design learning how to use HTML and JavaScript code to websites and different functions, or making a blog and creating a Podcast in my Strategic Presentation class. I have learned so much information at Rutgers, and I hope to continue using all the lessons I have learned and transforming them into my life after college. I currently am working at a software company as a Jr. Support Analyst and hope to bring as much knowledge I learn at Rutgers to advance in my field and strive to be the best I know I can be
